Butter is having its moment in 2025, with various flavored butters and those with different kinds of dairy, such as goat butter, emerging in shops and restaurants. Some have even taken to eating it alone — although that’s an acquired taste for most! One of the less intimidating ideas to try to hop on this food trend is creating a butterboard. Inspired by a technique from Chef Joshua McFadden, butter boards are perfect for entertaining and serving a crowd, allowing guests to swipe bread, fried dough pieces, crackers, or even crudités through the flavorful swirls of butter. You can go the sweet route with this food trend, opting for accompaniments like honey, fresh berries, dried fruits and jams. Alternatively, opt for savory with fresh herbs, chimichurri, crumbled bacon, roasted garlic or nuts. The combinations are limited only by your imagination.
